  20. Just thought I'd let you guys in on my travail:

  22. I was moving my tower system with the skins off, and a small spark jumped from 
  23. my finger to the frame. (!)  After that, the computer seemed DOA.
  24.  
  25. I walked away during the boot process, had dinner, and lo when I returned it HAD 
  26. completed the Boot Seq. (henceforth, BS)
  27.  
  28. Further experimentation revealed that it was taking >60 minutes to complete the 
  29. BS.  Kill the PCIscsi option in SETUP made this happen MUCH faster, and after 
  30. several hd-fixing auto-sessions it seems pretty stable, although my network card 
  31. seems pretty flakey now.
  32.  
  33. Lessons:  Always ground yourself, or work naked.
  34.     Killing certain auto-detect modes may make things happen faster.
  35.     Disk validation can be a cause of delays.
